Golf Clubs & Courses |
A golf course consists of a series of holes, each consisting of a teeing ground, a fairway, the rough and other hazards and a green with a flagstick and finally the hole (cup).
A standard round of golf will consist of playing 18 holes and most golf courses will have this amount of holes. Types of golf courses you may encounter include:
- Golf courses available that offer 27 or 30 holes.
- Par – 3 Courses also exist, having 9 or 18 holes all of which are par-3 (the number of strokes considered standard for a scratch golfer.)
- Coastal golf courses
- Golf Links
- Non-municipal golf courses – usually offer a golf club based at the golf course and a pro shop.
A golf club or country club is a private club with membership requirements that offers recreational sports facilities and is located on the outskirts of a town. A country club will usually provide hospitality to its members and guests such as restaurants and a bar; they may also provide suitable accommodation for special events. |
